Does Sims 3 work on older computers or does it require and newer computer?

I have like a 10 year old computer and I wanted to know if the Sims 3 needs a newer computer, or will work on any computer? I had the Sims 2 and it worked for about a year and a half, then it stopped. So will Sims 3 work on and older computer?

Thanks.Does Sims 3 work on older computers or does it require and newer computer?
it needs a shader 2.0 graphic card or higher. so you'll probs need a newer comp.
ya you need shader model 2.0 cuz i got sims 3 yesterday and after i downloaded it and tried to play it, there was a pop up and its said i need to upgrade my computer to shader model 2.... i was mad!! so u either need a newer computer that supports it or get a graphics card that costs like $100...

i got it 2 weeks ago. my computer is 4 years old. i installed it, tried to play it but it said i need to upgrade my graphics card its totally worth it tho ;] just get a graphics card with pixel shader 2.0. you might also need some RAM you need 1GB i have 256 MB so its gonna be slow but playable

no. not really, as long as your old computer is on update. but if its really old, then you need a new one (:

actually it would be fine as long as it has enough memory

Well I had Sims 2 for a year and a half and it worked fine on my computer. Then I got Sims 3 for my birthday and everytime i tried to get on it; it would take forever even just to load the homescreen. So I uninstalled A lot of programs that i hardly ever used and sims 2 (i lost all the families i made) and i tried Sims 3 again. It still was slow.

And my computer is only 5 years old.
Im not sure. Even my computer is a windows XP and the game is sooooo boring because its so slow. sometimes it crashes and i have to turn the computer off at the wall and i never got to save the game. i found out this happened because i needed a better driver card. u can get ur card updated or somthing if u give to a special pc man. u can test if ur computer can run it at:

Probably not. Check out your system requirements and then see if they comply with the requirements on www.thesims3.com.

If you do put it on it will most likely go extremely slow and have a bad picture because the quality of the sims 3 is very high.

On the left side of this page is a button that will run a system check and tell you whether or not your computer will run The Sims 3 according to their specs.
On the Sims 3 website, there is a system requirements checker. It will run a test on your computer to see if it meets the requirements. wwwthesims3.com is the website. I hope this helped!
My buddy's daughter bought that game about a month ago and I was shocked to see the system requirements for it.

If your PC is 10 years old, it probably won't be able to handle the game.
This site can help you find that out...

as long as you have enough ram to run it and you have the updated partition (the most updated windows like XP or whatever) than it should run fine

you could have a computer from like 1999 and have windows 2009 on it it should run smoothly

applies for any computer as well
The Sims 3 doesn't have the same requirements as The sims 2. They made it with lower requirements so that many people could play sims 3 without having to buy another computer or other things for their old one (as happened with sims 2). So I think it will work fine.
well if the game is from 2000 up it wont work but is from 1999 down it has to work
